Counselling
Ives Independence offers a professional Counselling Service for people seeking help and support.
We believe in equality of opportunity. This means we will not judge people for their race, religion, sexuality, disability, class or lifestyle.
Who is the Service for?
Problems come in many forms: relationships, family worries, anxiety, low self-esteem, bereavement, addictions, phobias, alcohol problems, eating disorders, loneliness and sexuality are just some of the problems which bring people to Ives Independence for help.
However, you may not have a specific problem - often just feeling confused, down or worried can affect many areas of your life.
Talking to another, in a private and confidential setting, who has no other role in your life can help you explore your situation and consider a new perspective. The counsellor will not make decisions for you, nor impose opinions, but will respect your individual needs.
What happens in Counselling?
- The Counselling session takes place in a comfortable room where you are assured of privacy and confidentiality.
- Each session lasts one hour. You will be encouraged to share your concerns and you will be listened to.
- Each session will aim to help you and the Counsellor establish mutual trust, understand the issues involved, and find ways of clarifying difficulties and ways of coping.
- The Counsellor will come to an agreement with you concerning the frequency and timing of subsequent sessions.
